The originally timber-clad Dutch barn received permission for conversion under Class Q.

Ke-design worked with the developer, Dukecroft, to develop internal layouts and external appearance.

However, once work began, the planners advised the owner that a full application was required. As full planning application was being made, this included the addition of a garage and balcony.

Support come from the Local Parish Council, yet the planning officer recommended the application for refusal, so the application went to planning committee.

The planning officers convinced the committee that the barn was now a new build and the application was refused.

The client took the planning application to appeal and received full support from the inspectorate.

Dutch barn conversions are popular across the country, offering a contemporary 'grand design' appeal with open-plan living and four spacious double bedrooms while maintaining their rural character.
